Responsibilities:
To perform engine watch during the voyage and at anchor, and follow orders of the duty engineer;

To do routine and planned works during working hours on “UMS” ships;
To be familiar with the handling of various machinery and equipment for which he is responsible and with the arrangement of tanks and pipe valves; to monitor and maintain these items of equipment
To be familiar with the machinery and equipment entrusted to his charge by the First Engineer, and to help the responsible engineer in the maintenance of machinery and equipment
To check temperature, pressures and tank soundings regularly during his watch and report to duty engineer in case any abnormality observed;
To keep ready all tools necessary for various jobs, and to improve work efficiency;
To perform work instructed by superiors;
To assist as necessary during maintenance works;
To assist maneuvering on deck, as necessary;
To execute other orders given by his superiors according to the rules, regulations and sea traditionsSorumlulukları:
Seyir vardiyası ve liman vardiyası tutmak ve görevli Mühendisin emirlerine uymak,
"VARDİYASIZ MAKİNE”lerde;mesai saatlerinde planlanan ve rutin işleri yapmak,
Sorumlu olduğu bölümlerin temizlik ve boyasını yapmak makine dairesi sistemlerine hakim olmak.(ballast ,yakıt ,su ve diğer devreleri bilmek),
2. Mühendis’in sorumluluğuna bıraktığı makine ve teçhizat hakkında bilgi sahibi olmak ve makine ve teçhizatın bakımı işlerinde sorumlu mühendise yardım etmek;
Vardiyasında düzenli olarak sıcaklık,basınç ve tank iskandil değerlerini kontrol etmek bir eksiklik/yetersizlik saptandığında, durumu sorumlu mühendise bildirmek;
Çeşitli işler için gerekli olan tüm aletleri hazır bulundurmak ve iş verimini arttırmak;
Üstlerinin yapılmasını istediği işleri yapmak,
Makine bakımlarında yardımcı olmak,
Gerektiğinde güvertede manevraya katılmak.
